Chapter 10

Manning had Kenya where he wanted her she would never expect the fact that Manning had been behind her apartment being destroyed. Manning was a master of manipulations. He knew what he wanted and would stop at nothing to get it even if it meant doing something that appeared out of character.

Kenya sat on 12th floor of a down town high rise it had three bedrooms two baths huge kitchen living room and Balcony that sat outside of her huge master bed room. The thing that Kenya loved more than anything was the huge oak door painted in red with a gold peep hole. It was different from the other doors in the building. And to her it said I have arrived. The apartment was completely furnished and smelled brand new. Kenya held Taylor on her lap sitting on her new sofa tears in her eyes glancing at her huge floor model television set.

A key in the lock made her eyebrows raise as she turned her head to the door. Watching as Manning walked in carrying tons of shopping bags in both hands. Kenya stayed seated stroking her baby girl’s hair. Watching Manning’s every move. He glanced over to her as he sat the bags down.

“Hey baby come see what ya man bought you!”

Manning reached over picking up Taylor taking her into his arms. He kissed her and rocked her in his arms as she was his own. Kenya was over excited going through every bag. She acted like a child on Christmas morning pulling from every bag holding the fancy dresses to her body and trying on the shoes. Never had she owned brand new clothes of that caliber. Manning sat Taylor down on the sofa walking over to the one bag Kenya had looked over. The bag was a small white shopping bag with black writing. He held the bag in the air and smiled.

“I guess you don’t want what's in here?”

“What is that baby?”

“I don’t know! I’ve never seen this bag before. Maybe they gave me an extra bag! I guess I just have to take it back!”

Manning Joked holding the bag over Kenya’s grabby hands walking over to the couch patting the seat beside him. Lifting Taylor on to his lap as Kenya sat on both knees like a begging dog. Manning slid his hand into the bag and pulled a long grey box out. Kenya’s eyes grew big and a smile covered her face. She looked at the velvet box bright eyed and bushy tale. Bouncing up and down Kenya didn't even hide her excitement.

“What is it?” Kenya asked grabbing for the box. Manning placed the box in her hand she just starred at it. A part of her frightened to open it. Just a small part .

“Can I open it?”

“ Of course” Manning said aiding her to open it. The box opened slowly and Kenya didn't know what to expect. After all this was the first time she was on the receiving end of an gift.
